Discussion

After the discussion the most interesting thing I wanted to know more about was the cartoon pictures what each of them mean.  My group only discussed the snake being wrapped around Leopold.  I thought this mean that Leopold was manipulating the King and controlling the Congo.  Leopold is pushing the King away like he is doing whatever he wants to him.  I also wanted to know more about the cartoon pictures on that page.  It was the two men smoking Hookah.  This is interesting and I'm not really sure what the smoking symbolizes.  One of the men has a newspaper in his lap that is titled Congo Atrocities.  One man is dressed in all Congo attire and the other man is very old and gray.  I am still not sure what this political cartoon is trying to say, but it is extremely interesting that a cartoon and say something especially when it shouts a political message.
